Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 12. But don’t wait for the calendar to tell you when to do something special for your mom. Everyday is mother’s day! Surprise her tomorrow with a bouquet of flowers or take her out to dinner tonight.

The Chappy Ferry steering committee will meet via Zoom on Thursday April 25 at 5 p.m. to get an update on the ownership analysis of the ferry by Maritime Consulting Partners. See the Edgartown website for the zoom link.

The new loading ramp for the Chappy slip will be installed the weekend of May 11 and 12. Between 9 a.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday, no vehicles will be carried as the old ramp is removed and the new one takes its place. Foot passengers will be carried during the entire operation. As usual, during such times when the ferry service is unable to accommodate vehicles, an ambulance and an extra fire truck will be stationed on Chappy.

Also, as usual, you can park a vehicle in town during this time and not get a ticket for parking longer than the allowed time as long as your vehicle is in a legal parking space. In case of bad weather, the back up date is the following weekend, May 18 and 19.
