The Chappy Ferry steering committee meeting scheduled for this week has been postponed until next week. The meeting will most likely now be on Thursday, May 30 at 4 p.m. Check the town website for the zoom link. The sea level adaption group will give an update on their study. The idea of a grant application by the town for a third ferryboat will be introduced.

The Chappaquiddick Island Association will host the first in a series of single-issue meetings this summer on Thursday, May 30 starting at 6 p.m. Darci Schofield from The Trustees of Reservations will introduce the new Chappy representative, Joseph McLaughlin. There will be updates on TTOR projects and an overview of the new barrier beach access rules. There will be an opportunity for questions following the presentation.

There are lots of interesting and fun activities coming up this summer at the Chappy Community Center. Check the CCC website calendar for details on the classical music series, author’s corner, calendar photo contest and the lobster roll schedule, just to name a few. You have no excuse to be bored this summer.

The Chappy Ferry begins operating on the summer schedule Thursday, May 23. This means that, weather permitting, the ferry runs continuously from 6:30 a.m. to midnight. If you need to get over before 6:30 a.m., you can sign up for a trip at 5 a.m. or 6 a.m. See the ferry captain in person before 5 p.m. on the day before your early trip. When you sign up, remember that the early trips are for either 5 or 6 a.m. on the dot.

The Chappy Ferry is always on the look-out for extra ferry captains. If you hold a 50-ton license or greater and want to experience the glamorous life of a ferry driver, contact me at peterchappyferry@gmail.com. You can work as little as one shift per week.

I saw Luke from the Blackbird Café on the ferry the other day. They are coming back to Chappy this summer. Stay tuned.

Mytoi Garden is in full bloom these days. Take the time to treat yourself to a visit.
