Artists, musicians and cooks will be out in full force at the season’s First Friday event in Vineyard Haven on June 7.

The day-long festival begins with an art market along Beach street extension at 10 a.m. and concludes with a silent disco in Owen Park at 9 p.m.

First Fridays will run every month from June to December, with the exception of November.

First Friday Vineyard Haven was established in 2016 by printmaker Althea Freeman-Miller and musician and sound professional Andy Herr.

This year, the art market, a centerpiece of the event, is moving from Owen Park to Beach street extension to better accommodate the growing crowds. The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For visitors interested in trying their own hand at a craft, there will be a tie dye activity from 5 to 7pm at Owen Park.

Taylor Stone is one of many artists who has taken part in the event, and is now the lead coordinator of First Fridays. Ms. Stone said that the art activity will change each month.

“The group is really open to trying new things every year,” she said.

Buskers will perform along Main street in the afternoon, and then at 5 p.m. the music will head to Owen Park with the Parrot Family Band, Dock Street Fight Club and The Jaywalkers performing sets.

In addition to music, there will be carriage rides and a variety of food vendors. In honor of LGBTQ+ pride month, Tisbury representatives and Queer Hub MV will raise the pride flag as part of the event.

“I think it can be a little overwhelming for people that aren’t familiar to pick through all of it,” Ms. Stone said. “But there’s always going to be art, live music, food and something interactive.”
