This Sunday, the Katharine Cornell Theatre will be vibrating with rap, hardcore and more from three rising Vineyard musical acts.

A Night at the Cornell features local punk acts The Divergents and Elliot Berz, who leads vocals for The L.A.B. It will also mark the first on-Island performance for rapper Tiz, a West Tisbury native. Clothing brand Social Static will offer a pop-up shop.

The free show takes place June 23, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Showtime is 7 p.m.

The Friends of Vineyard Haven Public Library are sponsoring the event, which will kick off the library’s summer reading program. Concertgoers must be 13 or older to attend.

“They’re local performers and we wanted to give them a chance to do their thing,” said library director Amy Ryan.

The Divergents and The L.A.B. are composed of a mix of current and former regional high school students. The two bands collaborated on a show at PathwaysARTS in April.

Tiz, whose real name is Emmett Favreau, is a rising junior and music major at Wesleyan University. He says his lyrics draw inspiration from Denzel Curry and MF DOOM, while his production draws on the stylings of Baby Keem.

Mr. Favreau is excited to perform material from his debut album, What The Tizness Is, which dropped in early May.

“I know that the other bands have a big presence here, which is exciting, because I’m expecting a good turnout and really great energy,” he said.
