First Friday is this week. Come see the treats on our Main street. Then mosey down to Owen Park, where there will be a great lineup of musicians to entertain you, including Regency Brass, Loose Fit, John O’Toole, Dave Willis and Bobby Keys, Missis Biskis, Lexi Weege and LJJ Slater Band, Maryse Smith and the Off Island Band. Harry Seymour, a self-taught artist, produces stellar art and poetry in his Oak Bluffs Studio. The Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse on Church Street opened his exhibit of work on July 3. It runs through August 10. There will be an opening reception on July 10 at 5 p.m.
We wait to welcome the Vineyard Sound annually. This weekend hear them at the Strand Theatre in Oak Bluffs on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Camp Jabberwocky has begun its summer sessions.
On Saturday, July 6 from noon to 2 p.m. the West Tisbury Library hosts its annual Archaeology ID day. Bring any artifacts you might have, especially from the island or New England. Four archaeologists will be there to answer your questions. This event is free and open to the public.
Daughter Amber Simonin had a complete surprise party for her parents, Carleton and Sharon Simonin. The occasion was their 35th wedding anniversary.
Island Time has reopened on Martha’s Vineyard.
