We’re thrilled with this week’s pets of the week. We have two nine-week-old, female kittens. The calico is the shyer of the two, but she is coming around. And her sister is cream color with blue eyes. If interested come by soon, these two won’t last.
We have no adoptions to report this week but Bob, the young, gray bobtail cat, has an adoption pending. Bob has become very popular here at the shelter, he has a large fan base. He does get overstimulated easily, but we think he’s going to be an awesome cat once he adapts to a new home. He’s an indoor cat, up-to-date on vaccines and ready to go. So, stop by and see if he could be your guy, just in case the adoption falls through.
Come one, come all on Saturday, July 20 for the annual Celebration of Pets from 1 until 3 p.m. There will be a blessing of the animals as well as fun activities for all members of the family. Hope you can join us.
Did you know that during regular business hours pets can be surrendered at no cost. A behavioral assessment is performed before admittance to ensure the animal can be safely adopted and does not pose any physical threat or medical hazard. While here, our residents are brought up-to-date medically, they are spayed/neutered, get flea and worming treatments, and are ID chipped. In addition, any medical conditions are evaluated and appropriate action is taken. Our primary function is to keep our residents fed and happy until they find their new families.
The hot summer weather is here so be aware of the temperature when thinking of taking your best friend on an outing with you. Hot pavement can burn tender pads and a hot car can become deadly in a matter of minutes. Leave your best friend at home.
Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours: 508-627-8662. Hours are: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 to 5 p.m.
