The air is crisp and the leaves are making their journey from green to brown, from tree to ground. Pumpkins dot the landscape as do all manner of gourds, standing proud in their pimply best.

It is harvest season on the Island, and with that comes harvest festivals.

The Agricultural Hall beckons on Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to embrace all things fall, from pumpkin carving to traversing a hay maze. Toss a squash, arrive in costume, bake a pie or eat a pie in a race against other eaters. It is for the young, old and everyone in between.

On Saturday, the Oak Bluffs Library hosts its harvest festival in partnership with Slough Farm. Lambs will be there so you should be too. The fun begins at 10 a.m.

Also on Saturday in Edgartown, Morning Glory Farm goes deep orange with its annual pumpkin festival. Hayrides, music, pumpkin carving, plus tasty treats are all on the menu, and word has it that Jack E. Lantern and Coach Gourdon are making a return. Those in the know understand. Those who don’t know, well, there’s a cure for that. Pumpkin mania begins at 10:30 a.m.
