No one was hurt Wednesday after a fire started in a chimney of an Oak Bluffs home.

Firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire at 11 Johns Way, near the Portuguese American Club, said Oak Bluffs fire Chief Stephen Foster.

Fire crews were called to the home at 2:20 p.m. and were met by the owners, who had evacuated the residence.

“They reported they had a fire in the fireplace and the chimney was on fire,” Chief Foster said.

Oak Bluffs was assisted at the fire by Edgartown, Tisbury and West Tisbury crews. Chief Foster said the cause remains undetermined, but it did not seem intentional.

According to town records, the Cape-style, wood-framed home belongs to Thomas and Rena Morrison.
