Martha’s Vineyard Community Services has selected a career health care official to be their new chief executive officer.

Dean Teague, who has over two decades of experience leading nonprofit community health care organizations, will start next month, the organization announced in a statement. Mr. Teague is a native of Marshfield.

“I could not be more excited to join the outstanding team of professionals at MVCS,” Mr. Teague said in a press release.

Mr. Teague replaces Beth Folcarelli, who led the organization for four years. Scott Turton, the nonprofit’s chief administrative officer, will continue to fill in as interim CEO until Mr. Teague takes over.

Most recently, Mr. Teague served as president and CEO of CalvertHealth System, a nonprofit health center in Maryland.

He began his career in health care in 1995 as an Officer in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps where he worked for 24 years to strengthen health care systems in NATO-aligned nations. He also led casualty care during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

“Dean is a highly effective and inspiring leader with a proven record of accomplishment,” said Michael Goldsmith, president of the MVCS board of directors, in a press release. “He [understands] the vital role of MVCS on the Island and the importance of our mission in the community.”

Mr. Teague takes over as the organization begins a rebuild of the MVCS campus.

“I look forward to settling into my new community, getting to know my colleagues and neighbors and becoming a proud and productive resident of this amazing Island,” Mr. Teague said in the press release.
