Over the next three weeks the Edgartown highway department will be renovating Main street’s drainage and sewer infrastructure.

The town’s highway superintendent Allan DeBettencourt told the select board on Monday that his crew will be repaving the road and rebuilding storm water catch basins, which are located at various locations along the street.

Construction begins Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mr. DeBettencourt said Main Street should be open to all traffic with the exception of a few hours when the town starts the repaving process on April 14.

“I know it’s an uncomfortable time to do this, [but] there is no comfortable time,” Mr. DeBettencourt said.

He added that construction will not interfere with the town meeting on April 8, nor will take place it during town elections on April 10.
