Judith Ann Valentine of Mechanicsburg, Penn., died on May 18 after a lengthy illness. She was 79.

Born on Dec. 16, 1939 in La Porte, Ind., she was the daughter of Anthony and Ann Marie (Tevnan) Valentine.

Judy was a graduate of LaPorte High School and went on to study music, speech, and theater at Indiana University. She was a talented actress and singer and had extensive involvement in productions at local theaters. She was a fiercely independent woman who worked much of her life, eventually finding success as an entrepreneur. She was adventurous and enjoyed traveling widely with friends and family.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John W. Osborn, daughter Dr. Valentine M. Osborn, son Timothy W. Osborn, stepdaughters Lida Finlayson and Elizabeth Bostrum, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Viewing will take place at Malpezzi Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg, Penn. Interment will be at the New Westside Cemetery in Edgartown.
