Hope Auchincloss Whipple died peacefully at home in New York city on Jan. 21. She was 91.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she led an active life filled with interests and hobbies. She very much enjoyed the special time spent on the Island being with her family and tending to her beloved garden. She was an avid birdwatcher and traveled the world on birdwatching and nature expeditions. She was also a skilled bridge player at the Colony Club.
She is survived by her three children Jack Whipple, George Whipple, and Susan Wald Douglas; daughters in law Tory and Joan, son in law Philip Douglas; grandchildren Carey Whipple, Clare Bergan, Kate Mitchell, Kelly Brooke, Julia and Diane Wald; and great-grandchildren Maddie, Emma, Avery, Riley, Margot, and Charlie.
