Three people will vie for two seats on the Oak Bluffs board of selectmen this spring, including two new faces, as a longtime town selectman gives up his seat.

Selectman Greg Coogan confirmed last week that he will not seek re-election after 18 years on the board.

“I think near-on 20 years is kind of enough. It’s time for somebody younger maybe,” Mr. Coogan told the Gazette by phone. “I have three grandchildren now, and an old wooden boat to take care of. I just thought it was time.”

Oak Bluffs is the only Island town with a five-member board of selectmen.

Incumbent selectman Jason Balboni is seeking a second term on the board. Two other candidates have filed papers: Emma Green-Beach and Rich Michelson. Ms. Green-Beach is the executive director of the Martha’s Vineyard Shellfish Group. Mr. Michelson is a retired fire lieutenant and EMT in town.

The annual town election is April 15.
