It has been my favorite weather. Warm enough to wear capris and sandals. There has been a great breeze to keep it cool enough if you wanted long sleeves and jeans. I know it won’t be long before the humidity sets in and makes the heat lovers happy. New England keeps everyone happy.
Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Desmond Moore, who celebrated June 19, Carlos Dias and Asher Savva on June 21, Christian Fisher on June 22, and to Amera Mello who celebrates her day today, June 25.
The Fourth of July is upon us. Even though there are no parade or fireworks, I think people will still celebrate in their own way. There are a lot of people here already and I think there will be more.
The sounds of summer are humming at the Boys and Girls Club and the fields around it. The club is getting ready for its summer camp that is opening now that school is out. There are people playing soccer in the recess area and if you listen hard enough you can hear the swings swinging. I think it won’t be long before we hear the crack of the bat hitting the baseball and the cheering of the onlookers. Always one of my favorite sounds of summer.
It is lobster roll season. Of course the fish markets have some great rolls but there are a few organizations that also have some nice full ones. The American Legion in Vineyard Haven started their season on June 22 at the Hall from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The Grace Church has started their summer serve on Friday nights. The Edgartown Patrolman’s Association will have a lobster roll drive-thru on July 3 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. or until they run out. It has been my past experience that they run out before their closing hours. They are all delicious so try them out some night. You won’t be disappointed.
Welcome home to J.J. Mendez after being in an accident and having many broken bones. He will be with his Mom Bethany Scanlon and will be laid up for a few months of healing. They have started a Go Fund me page in his name to help with the financial things that come up every month. Let’s hope he heals fast and is up and around soon.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
