Cooling breezes continue as temperatures remain in the 70s. Still a few more beach days ahead.

Remnants of Hurricane Larry created huge waves at Squibnocket Beach this past Friday, with surfers of all ages taking advantage. Parking was at a premium.

The Town of Aquinnah will be enforcing parking regulations at the Philbin Beach parking lot until Sept. 30 as well as enforcing parking regulations at all resident permit parking areas in town until further notice.

Across the line in Chilmark, Lucy Vincent Beach opened to the public on Sept. 16, according to the Town of Chilmark website.

At the Aquinnah Public Library, Little Bird Music will be held on the deck on Thursdays for the next three weeks. Please bring a blanket to sit on as well as a musical instrument.

The library book club will meet on Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. to discuss American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins. The group will meet on the deck.

Also on Sept. 23, Merissa Nathan Gerson, author of Forget Prayers, Bring Cake, will explore themes of grief and community through a meeting on Zoom at 5 p.m.

The Menemsha Bike Ferry will continue to operate through September from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

Stephanie Hughes has returned to her home in Nyack, N.Y. after spending a week with her daughter Gabriella Camilleri and her husband Steve Hutchinson. Stephanie spoke at the Aquinnah Public Library on the subject of Shakespeare and the Vineyard. She is very happy to report that her book will be published soon.

Isabelle Lumb departed for Chicago on Thursday, after spending the past year and a half with her mother Jessie Shafer and working remotely from home.

Zachary Macey, son of Jon and Amy, has left for his junior year at Proctor Academy, where he is a member of the lacrosse team. Zach spent the summer working at Cliffhangers.

Jessica Shafer is ecstatic that she will receive her new boat soon. Her previous boat was, unfortunately, damaged while being transported to the Vineyard.
