Veterans Day is Thursday, Nov. 11, celebrating the service of all military veterans. The day is the same every year, and the ceremony time on that day also the same as it marks the end of World War I, which took place on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
The Vineyard recognizes the day with a ceremony at Ocean Park in Oak Bluffs, beginning at 11 a.m. There will be no parade again this year due to Covid.
Earlier in the day members of the American Legion Post 257 will place flags in the Oak Grove Cemetery denoting the Avenue of Flags, in memory of veterans. Flags will be put up at 7:15 a.m. and taken down at 2:45 p.m.
