The natural resources department of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) seeks volunteers to help plant 20,000 shoots of beach grass along the dunes of Lobsterville Beach. A volunteer day for this annual group activity is scheduled for Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The effort supports the tribe’s multi-year project to restore and preserve the sand dunes behind Lobsterville Beach. Volunteers will be helping to rebuild a critical and beautiful ecological landmark, and protect a rare and fragile ecosystem.
Pre-registration is required: RSVP by emailing Beckie Finn at envcoord@wampanoagtribe-nsn.gov. Breakfast and beverages provided by Quitsa Cuisine.
