Good news! Snort’s adoption is official and we couldn’t be happier. Congratulations, Snort.

The pets of the week are two brothers. Smokey and Bandit are two-year-old, medium-haired, black cats. These boys are very bonded and they do everything together, so we would like them to be re-homed together. Both are very sweet, affectionate cats, definite lap sitters who love people. Smokey is the smaller of the two, and Bandit the larger. Both are up-to-date and ready to go to a new forever home, so come and get them.

Teddy needs a good home. He is about five years old, a short haired, mixed breed, hound dog who is of medium size. His markings are brindle and white, and he’s a happy dog who loves to play and loves his toys. Teddy does have some reactivity issues and is not a fan of cats. He has been undergoing training and is responding very well, but it will need to be continued by his new family. So, stop by and meet Teddy. He’s a real fun boy who would make a great pet.

Also still available are Peter and Teddy, eight-month-old, black male rabbits. They have been hand raised, and are litter box trained. Both are very friendly, and love to be held and cuddled. And they are happy living indoors or out.

Did you know that we offer our services to the Island’s animal control officers. If we are asked for help, we give whatever help we are able to provide.

The 14th Annual Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard Garden Party will be held on Monday, June 26 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. There is an online auction, a live auction, a ticket table and our famous jewelry table. For more information, or to purchase tickets visit animalshelterofmv.org.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.
