Edward Kivie Kaplan of West Newton and Oak Bluffs on Feb. 7. He was 81.

He was the beloved husband of Eugenia Janna Lipmanov Kaplan.

He was the son of the late Kivie and Emily Kaplan; devoted father of Jeremy Kaplan and his wife Rebecca Ballantine, Aaron Kaplan and his wife Será Godfrey-Kaplan, and Sima Kaplan and her husband Ryan Dobran; grandfather of Eli, Lhakyi, Dechen, Bella and Cassie Ballantine-Kaplan, Zeppelin Godfrey-Grantz, Kivie and Fox Godfrey-Kaplan; and the brother of the late Sylvia Grossman and Jean Green.

His service will be held on Friday, Feb. 9 at 12 p.m. at Temple Sinai in Sharon. He will be interred at Sharon Memorial Park. Shiva will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. each evening from Saturday, Feb. 10 through Wednesday, Feb. 14 at his home, located at 15 Fountain street in West Newton.
