An Oak Bluffs man was found guilty last week in Edgartown district court of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.

Raymond E. Dauphinais, 69, was ordered to spend a year at the Edgartown house of correction for an August 6, 2011 incident at his Oak Bluffs home in which he touched a 12-year-old neighbor’s chest and buttocks.

A six-person jury unanimously found Mr. Dauphinais guilty on June 12. Two days later, he was sentenced to two and a half years in a house of correction, with one year to serve and the balance suspended two years. He was placed on probation for two years after his sentence, and ordered to pay $600 in restitution and a $65 monthly probation services fee.

He was also ordered to have counseling as mandated by probation after an evaluation, not to contact the victim and her family, and to register as a sex offender.
