Party Owl

Steve Gentle photographed an unexpected guest at his Edgartown home this past week. The Gentles hosted a party a few nights ago, and perhaps when the human guests said their goodbyes, someone left the door open enough for this owl to fly in, although no one noticed . . . until the next morning, when Mr. Gentle came downstairs  to feed his cat. It was then that the owl made his presence known, flying by him to land on the television. The owl simply stayed there, quite unafraid, watching his host. Eventually, using a small net, Mr. Gentle transported the owl to the garage, where this picture was taken. Mr. Gentle opened the door, and after awhile the owl flew out into the chill.
