Next Tuesday, July 27, is the deadline for filing election papers to serve on the Martha’s Vineyard Commission.
Every two years, there is an Islandwide election for the nine commissioners. At the fall elections, a minimum of one and a maximum of two commissioners will be elected from each town.
Nomination papers and instructions are now available at the MVC office or each town hall. Ten certified signatures are required; papers may only be signed by registered voters. These papers must be submitted to the local board of registrars for certification of signatures no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, and thereafter filed with the secretary of the commonwealth no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24. For more information, please contact your town clerk.
