Sport Casting
The Martha’s Vineyard Surfcasters
are accepting nominations for their Sportsmanship Award. This annual award honors those who display the true meaning of good sportsmanship during the course of the Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby.
Sportsmanship is not measured in pounds or inches and this award is not about how big, or how many fish were caught. A derby fisherman with good sportsmanship expresses an aspiration that the derby will be enjoyed for its own sake, with proper consideration for fairness, ethics, respect and a sense of fellowship with other fishermen.
This prize is sponsored by the Martha’s Vineyard Surfcasters Association. Its winner is selected by the derby committee and awarded to the individual, family or group who exhibits sportsmanship during the derby. It is open to all participants in all divisions and all categories.
Submit a nomination with your name and contact details, explaining who you are nominating and why that individual, family or group deserves the award. Please put it in the box at the weigh-in that is labeled Sportsmanship Award.
