Stars in the Stacks
For the second year in a row, the West Tisbury Free Public Library has won a five-star rating from the Library Journal Index of Public Library Service. The Oak Bluffs Public Library also is a star library, with three stars.
West Tisbury library director Beth Kramer said the award was particularly welcome as the library is conducting a capital campaign to expand our facility. “[It] shows not only that our library is vital to the community, but that our staff is making extremely good use of our existing resources,” she said.
Criteria include per capita circulation, visits, program attendance and public Internet use. Of 10 public libraries in Massachusetts identified as “star” libraries, two are on the Vineyard.
