Jill McLean Taylor of Wellesley Hills died at the age of 66 from leukemia on Saturday, Oct. 23. Jill was born in Wellington, New Zealand, on Jan. 13, 1944, the elder daughter of the late Sir Terry and Lady McLean. Jill is survived by her husband, Harry Taylor, formerly of Belfast, Northern Ireland, her sons, Alex, Tom and Willie, and her brothers Jock McLean and David McLean, and her younger sister, Sally Ann McLean, all of Auckland, New Zealand. Jill was a professor at Simmons College for 20 years and a passionate advocate for women’s rights and social justice. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Memorial Church at Harvard University in Cambridge. A scholarship titled “He Also Had Five Daughters: The Jill McLean Taylor Memorial Scholarship Fund,” was created in her honor.
