Mr. and Mrs. Allan R. Keith are very pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Lucy Ward Keith, to Mr. Tomas Diagne of Senegal, West Africa, on Saturday, Sept. 18 at the Keith Farm on Middle Road in Chilmark.
Lucy is the granddaughter of E. Bradford and Lucile Keith, formerly of Westwood, and of Hugh Allen and Margaret Ward, formerly of New York city.
A bagpipe processional of the traditional Scottish melody The Water Is Wide was followed by a reading of a love poem written by Mr. Diagne’s great-uncle, Leopold Senghor, the first president of independent Senegal. It was first read in French by Mr. Diagne’s cousin, Momar Owens N’Diaye, and then in English by Lucy’s friend, Nicole Adimey. The song Lullaby by the Dixie Chicks was then sung by Tess Keith, Lucy’s sister and maid of honor, accompanied by violin and guitar.
Lucy’s attendants wore pale blue. Coral Keith Rabey, Lucy’s younger sister, was matron of honor, and bridesmaids were Sabrina Davies, Paula Sylvia, Sheri Hall Proft and Suzanne Tarr.
Dr. Peter Pritchard was best man, accompanied by ushers Momar Owens N’Diaye, Patrick Baker and Stephen Rabey.
Sky Lily Rabey, three-and-a-half years old, in lavender, was the flower girl, escorted by her brother, seven-year-old Max Keith Rabey.
The ceremony was performed by Dr. Les Kaufman. The bagpipe recessional was the traditional Scotland the Brave.
A reception followed, also at the Keith Farm. The bride and bridegroom will split their time between homes in Gainesville, Fla., and Saly, Senegal.
