Coco the Clown has been using voice movement therapy (VMT) to help in the treatment of autism. To offset some of the costs for this program, she will be selling balsam fir wreaths during the holiday season.
VMT is an expressive arts therapy which uses movement as a vehicle to access vocalization. What VMT can change is the way the self is experienced in the body. This can then be a means for discovering new or different aspects of oneself which may have been unknown or misunderstood. The therapy provides a healthy means of processing the information and the emotions that may come up as a result of the work.
Coco the Clown is the peformance identity of Corinne de Langavant. In addition to voice movement therapy, Ms. de Langavant has been a freelance performing artist since 1982. She is a fixture at many Island events including Featherstone Center for the Arts, Polly Hill Arboretum and Built on Stilts, to name just a few. Coco the Clown is also available for private events.
The cost for each 22 inch wreath is $12.
