Aquinnah photographer John Wightman has his display of Celebration of Winter photographs for your viewing pleasure at the Bank of Martha’s Vineyard at the Beetlebung Corner branch through the holidays. You will still have an opportunity to purchase one of his wonderful photographs of the Cliffs with a clay bead inserted in the shadowbox, the lighthouse at Aquinnah Circle in snow, a scene from Zack’s beach with a piece of sea glass, or perhaps the one at Lobsterville with a fishing fly in the insert. They are all great scenes that John has captured on his adventures up-Island.
The winter Farmers’ Market will be held at the Ag Hall on Saturday, Dec. 18 from 10 to noon. Please stop by and find unique items for your Christmas list while supporting local artisans and farmers. Dan Sauer and Nonie Madison will be there from Aquinnah. Linda Alley will have her jams and jellies for the holidays, and many more vendors with their treats for the season.
Consider donating a toy for the Red Stocking as they have more than 400 children on their gift list this Christmas. If you would like to donate an unwrapped toy or a book, please drop them off at the Grace Church in Tisbury or at the P.A. Club in Oak Bluffs.
Diamond Vanderhoop reminds us all that Chilmark Chocolates will be closing on Dec. 19 for a few weeks. Please stop by to fulfill your Christmas list with chocolates for those you love.
The Martha’s Vineyard/Dukes County Fishermen’s Association held their first Night Out on Saturday evening at the P.A. Club. It was a fun night for all who attended from across the Vineyard. Their fundraiser, which is also raising awareness, was very successful and they achieved their goal for this month to assist with legal fees in the ongoing offshore wind farm debacle. Thank you to Warren and Nan Doty for their encouragement and oversight. We will look forward to many more fundraisers for this group.
