Eleanore Everdell of Old Brookville, N.Y., the former Eleanore Hayden Darling of Providence, R.I., died Feb. 8. She was 93.

She was the wife of William Everdell.

She attended Miss Porter’s School, Farmington, Conn., and the Rhode Island School of Design.

Elected president of her local North Country Garden Club on Long Island, she rose to first vice-president of The Garden Club of America. She served her community in a number of capacities, including membership on the board of the Colony Club in Manhattan, and had many loyal friends.

She summered with her family for many years in Edgartown, where fellow members of the Edgartown Yacht Club will remember her as a serious tennis competitor.

Mrs. Everdell had battled several serious illnesses with tenacity and humor.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, William R. of Brooklyn, N.Y., Coburn of San Francisco, Calif., and Preston of Centreville, Maryland; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., at 11 a.m. today, Friday, Feb. 15. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Miss Porter’s School, 60 Main street, Farmington, CT 06032.
