The Sweet Life Cafe is collaborating with The Yard to support their artists-in-the-schools program. In the past decade, the program has allowed thousands of Island children to explore dance and music from many cultures with premiere talents in dance education and performance.
On Friday, May 2, Sweet Life owners Pierre and Susan Guerin will host a wine dinner featuring the wines of the acclaimed Mas de Daumas Gassac Vineyard in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France.
The prix fixe menu is $95 per person, wines included. For reservations, call 508-696-0200.
Mr. and Mrs. Guerin were inspired to support the Yard’s educational outreach mission after their daughter Julia participated in the program at the Edgartown School.
“I have seen what they have achieved with their artists-in-the-schools program, and the experiences it brings to children are rich and varied,” said Mrs. Guerin in a statement. The Guerins hope to ensure the program’s continued presence in Island schools.
Wendy Taucher, artistic director at The Yard, added, “This is a chance for folks to support The Yard, have a fun night out, drink incredible wine and taste incredible food . . . a classy way to help our schools program.”
This spring’s Yard program features the Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company, a renowned New Jersey group, working with students in Island schools during the week of May 19 to 23, with a public performance at Martha’s Vineyard Performing Arts Center on Saturday, May 24.
