The Permanent Endowment Fund for Martha’s Vineyard has hired Ralinda Lurie as its first executive director.
“With the growth we have been experiencing in recent years, it was time to formalize our operations and development efforts,” said Debbie Hale, chairman of the board, in a statement.
Ms. Lurie joins the fund with more than 30 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations. Most recently, she served as chairman of the board of trustees at The Fenn School in Concord. She also helped organize the first Seafaring Festival for Sail Martha’s Vineyard.
The fund board also has welcomed two new members, Emily Bramhall and Anne Williamson.
“We are delighted to welcome Emily and Anne to the board,” Ms. Hale said. “Both will bring sound judgment, thoughtful perspectives on the needs of the community and a love of the Island to our active, working board.”
Emily Bramhall, the owner and founder of Bramhall & Dunn in Vineyard Haven, has lived on the Island since 1975. She is vice president of the Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation.
Anne Williamson, a teacher at the Tisbury School since 1989, moved to the Vineyard in 1987. She serves on the board of trustees of the Vineyard Montessori School and is education chairman for the Federated Church in Edgartown.
The Permanent Endowment Fund has been the Vineyard’s community foundation since 1982. With assets of more than $6.5 million, the fund and its donors awarded 44 scholarships and 58 grants to Island students and nonprofit organizations last year.
