The Chappaquiddick Summer Music Festival concludes its 2008 season on Thursday, August 7 at 8 p.m. with a performance by violinist Jennifer Koh and pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute. The program includes sonatas by Mozart, Brahms and Bartok.
A prolific recitalist, Miss Koh appears frequently at major music centers and festivals, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Mostly Mozart, Marlboro and Wolf Trap, and with Christoph Eschenbach at Ravinia and Schleswig-Holstein. She is heard annually at the Spoleto Festival in Italy, where she recorded Menotti’s Violin Concerto live in concert with the Spoleto Festival Orchestra conducted by Richard Hickox.
A much-sought after chamber musician, Ms. Jokubaviciute recently appeared at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium and tours regularly with Musicians from Marlboro. This last season, her piano trio—Trio Cavatina with Harumi Rhodes and Priscilla Lee—made its New York city and Boston debuts. She appears annually at international music festivals including Marlboro, Ravinia, Bard, Prussia Cove in England, and Festival de la musique de chambre at La Lointaine in France and most recently at the Schleswig-Holstein Festival in Germany.
Tickets are $18, $16 for seniors and are available at the door or in advance at the community center. There will be a free shuttle from the Chappy ferry beginning at 7:30 p.m. and returning after the concert. A reception follows, and everyone is invited to attend.
