Marcelino A. (Jose) Blanco died Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital after a long illness. Marcelino was born on August 19, 1960 in Honduras and moved to the United States in the 1980s.

Marcelino was affectionately known by many as Jose by many and had a multitude of friends from the jobs he held throughout the years.

For more than the past five years, Marcelino worked for the Martha’s Vineyard Transit Authority, where he obtained his commercial driver’s license and worked as a vehicle operator. Marcelino also worked for Seaside Celebrations Tent & Party Rental, delivering and setting up tents and equipment.

Marcelino will be remembered by most for his unforgettable, high-spirited personality. He had a passion for cars and was meticulous about their upkeep. He was also fond of Mardi Gras and often traveled to New Orleans and surrounding areas, making new friends and visiting old ones along the way.

Marcelino was a hard worker and a dedicated friend who did not let his own hardships bring him down. He brought smiles and laughter to all those who had the pleasure of knowing him, even when he was ill. You could always trust that Marcelino would be there for you, no matter what.

Survivors include his mother, Filomena Blanco of Honduras; his sister, Dilcia Miranda, his niece, Gina Miranda, his nephew, Allan Miranda, and his brother in law, Isabel Miranda, all of Texas; and his extended Island family. Marcelino’s cremated remains will reside in Texas with his family.

A celebration of his life will be held in December. More information will be posted at ccgfuneralhome.com. Cards may be sent to the Miranda Family, in care of the VTA, 11 A street, Edgartown MA 02539.
