The Rev. David Berube, a member of the Oak Bluffs Police Department, will be the guest minister at the 9 a.m. Sunday service at Community Baptist Church.

The scalloping season opened this week. So far there is an abundance of scallops, with everyone getting their three-bushel limit within a reasonable amount of time. The scallops are also a good size, easier to cut, and quite delectable. The weather has been cold, windy, and rainy, seemingly unsure whether or not to snow. Deer season will be coming to a close for those hunters who chose shotgun. It is continuing for archery and primitive firearms. Thank you to all who donated deer to the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah). The venison will be served at the December elders’ luncheon along with a feast of scallops provided by Bret Stearns.

Get-well wishes to Rose Anthony, who is resting comfortably at her home under the loving care of her children.

Get-well wishes as well to Albert O. Fischer, affectionately known as Bert, who is home and feeling great following his recent surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. Bert would like to remind all his friends and neighbors to have their prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels checked for early detection. For now, he is extremely grateful, fortunate and resting comfortably at his Aquinnah home, keeping an eye on the birds.

Marjorie Vanderhoop Galbraith and her children spent the holiday at their Lobsterville home. She was accompanied by her son Alex Galbraith, his wife Linda, their son Alexander 3rd, and Linda’s mother Mrs. Squires of Stoneham; Paul Galbraith, his wife Janette and their sons Moshup and Naushon of Chestnut Hill; and daughter Polly of Everett. Marjorie and Polly recently returned from a trip to Munich, Germany, Lake Como and Milan in Italy, and a tour of Paris. On Wednesday morning, Marjorie and Polly escaped unscathed as they fled from their Everett home during a scary fire that extended for blocks, destroying homes and about 40 vehicles.

Adriana Giles Ignacio and her sister Carla Giles Cuch departed for their winter abode in Utah. Carla recently returned from a trip to Hawaii with her son Cameron and grandson Jay Ryder while they attended an education conference. Carla was accompanied on her trip to Hawaii by her niece Amira Ignacio.

Welcome to Soraya Lynn Randolph, daughter of Richard and Jennifer Caton Randolph, who was born at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital on Dec. 4. Soraya was 7 pounds, 3 ounces at birth and is 19.25 inches long. She is the newest Aquinnah Wampanoag tribal member, the granddaughter of Mavis Camillo of Oak Bluffs, Christina McMullen of Fairhaven, and Wayne Lobo of Falmouth. She is a descendant of the Cook, Manning, Randolph and Talknot families of Aquinnah. Soraya is also welcomed home by her five-year-old sister, Jada Lee Randolph.

Get-well wishes to the Rev. Roger H. Spinney, who underwent orthopedic surgery on Monday at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. He returned home on Tuesday, is resting comfortably while under the expert nursing care of his wife Sharon, and is looking for a New England Patriots arm sling as his shoulder heals.
