Cindy S. Raymond, 48, Was Born on Vineyard
Cindy Lee Small Raymond, 48, of Hyannis, died June 10 after a long battle with breast cancer. In her last months, she had been cared for by her family at home with the help of Hospice.
She was born on the Vineyard and lived in Vineyard Haven until her family moved to West Hyannisport. She started her education at Tisbury School on the Island and continued her schooling at Barnstable. She was graduated with highest honors from Cape Cod Community College and University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. She had been employed at a hospital, bank and doctor's office on Cape Cod.
During her marriage she had made Cotuit her home. She was an excellent seamstress, crafts person and gardener. Traveling to many parts of the United States and the Caribbean gave her great joy in her shortened life. She also loved the Vineyard and would spend as much time as she could there. She particularly loved animals, especially Reo her black lab mix dog. Her plants and feedings attracted many hummingbirds and birds of all kind to her home.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Jacqueline Hicks of Hyannis; her mother, Lucia (Vincent) Small of Hyannis; two brothers, Mark Small of Cotuit and Timothy Small of Hyannis; two sisters, Susan Ingram and Leslie Johns both of Hyannis; a great aunt Lottie Hufford of Colorado; two aunts, Shirley Kaeka of Hawaii and Barbara Maciel of Martha's Vineyard and her former husband, Kenneth Raymond of Cotuit. She also had a niece and nephew and many cousins.
Interment will be on the Vineyard at a later date.
