Mary Jane Bergeron Was a Native of the Vineyard
Mary Jane Bergeron, 70, of Greenacres, Fla., died on July 2 in Grassy Key, Fla. She was predeceased by her husband and soulmate, Eugene W. Bergeron, and her grandson, Eric Bergeron MacLean.
Mrs. Bergeron was born Mary Jane Amaral on Martha's Vineyard on May 22, 1934. She and her husband worked overseas with the space program on Ascension Island for nine years. She was active with the Greenacres Little League for 28 years.
She is survived by her children: twin sons, Peter and Paul, daughter, Patricia, of Oak Bluffs, and son, MSgt. Patrick Bergeron of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Bobby Ann Gibson and Catherine Deese and brother, Nelson Amaral, all of Oak Bluffs; grandchildren, Jim Gibson, Derek Bergeron, Patrick Bergeron, Phillip Bergeron, Kristen MacLean and Thomas Wilkins; great-grandchild Benjamin Eric MacLean, and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Funeral services were held at the Del Lago Funeral Home, Lake Worth, Fla., on July 6. M.J.'s ashes, along with her husband, Gene's, will be spread over Grassy Key at a later date, because that's where she loved to be.
