Dr. Paul W. Cook Jr. Was Professor of Economics
Dr. Paul W. Cook Jr. of Lincoln, age 77 died Wednesday, April 7, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was the husband of Marian (Miller) Cook.
Born in Evanston, Ill., on Nov. 7, 1926, he was the son of the late Paul W. Cook Sr. and Mary (Ruminer) Cook. He attended schools in Evanston, was a graduate of Brown University and later from the University of Chicago, where he received a Ph.D.
Dr. Cook was a former professor of economics at the Harvard School of Business. He also served as president of Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind., and as special consultant to the president of M.I.T. in Cambridge. He retired as an economic consultant for his own company, Paul W. Cook Jr. Associates of Lincoln.
He was a member of the American Economic Association, Harvard Institute of Learning in Retirement (HILR) and the Mount Pelerin Society.
As a Lincoln resident since 1957, he was a member of the First Parish in Lincoln, was a former board member of the Decordova Museum in Lincoln and also served on the town of Lincoln long range planning committee.
Paul was an avid fisherman, gardener and family person. He was a winter resident of Marco Island in Florida and summer resident of West Tisbury.
Survivors include two sons, Peter M. Cook and his wife, Janet, of Sudbury and John W. Cook and his wife, Jean, of Northborough; a daughter, Catherine Sue Cook Breau and her husband, Kent, of Burnham, Me., six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
