William T. Munson Was Veteran of World War
William Thomas Munson, Esq. of Falmouth died Sunday, Sept. 28, at Harborside Health Care of Falmouth. He was the husband of Natalie Chipman Munson of Falmouth and they were married for more than 61 years.
He was born on June 1, 1919 in O'Hara, Pa., the only child of Dr. William L. and Olive (Anderson) Munson. He went to Granville High School in New York and then Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, Va. Mr. Munson graduated from Harvard College Class of 1942 and enlisted in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was discharged in 1946 as a master sergeant. Mr. Munson, after returning home from the war, attended Harvard Law School and graduated in 1950.
He began his general law practice specializing in real estate and probate. He was chairman of the board of assessors in Falmouth and chairman of the Falmouth Public Library for 25 years. He was a member of the Woods Hole Golf Club and the Harvard Clubs of Boston and Cape Cod. He was a member of the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church of Falmouth.
He is survived by his wife; a son, William C. Munson and his wife, Heather of Oak Bluffs and Falmouth; two grandchildren, William P. Munson and Megan C. Munson. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah A. Munson.
His memorial service will be held in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Falmouth on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to the Falmouth Public Library or to Falmouth Visiting Nurse Association. Arrangements are under the care of Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home of Oak Bluffs and Falmouth.
