Wilhelmina A. Cook Was Member of Church, Tribe
Wilhelmina A. Cook of Aquinnah died Friday evening, August 30, at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. She was 75. She was the wife of George B. Cook Sr., who predeceased her in 1960.
Wilhelmina was born on Nov. 28, 1926 to the late Napoleon and Nanetta (Vanderhoop) Madison. She was a member of the Gay Head Baptist Church and the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah). Wilhelmina enjoyed knitting and driving and playing with her children. She is survived by her children, Janice E. Sylvia of Aquinnah, Juanita Cram of Taunton and Chester Cook of Ferndale, Wash.; a brother, Luther Madison of Aquinnah; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, George B. Cook Jr., in 1985.
Her funeral service will be held in Gay Head Baptist Church at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Donations may be made to Gay Head Baptist Church Belfry Fund, State Road, Aquinnah, MA 02535. Arrangements are by the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs.
