Please Adopt Us
The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is grateful to all the people who have helped empty the cages at the shelter in the past few weeks by adopting cats.
The shelter now has only a few cats available for adoption. They are: Pete, a short-haired ginger tabby; Rex an older tuxedo cat who needs an understanding, gentle owner; and Sweet Potato, a young male tabby.
The shelter also has Pinto, a young black and brown Abyssinian male guinea pig who is very gentle, like most guinea pigs, and just wants a loving person to give him a good home. They make wonderful pets.
The shelter has two dogs available for adoption. Nanna is a small, black three-year-old Shiba Inu. If you have never heard of or seen this breed, please come to the shelter to check her out. She was being spayed at press time and will be ready for adoption in a few days. The other dog is Tiger, a darling, gentle, brown male Italian greyhound-dachshund cross who is a typical “velcro” dog and just wants to be with people all the time. Both are unusual dogs.
Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
Contributions are always gratefully accepted; we are funded solely by donations. The Susie Fund was established to pay the medical expenses of animals at the shelter who need medical care. Please make checks out to The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard; the mailing address is P.O. Box 1829, Edgartown MA 02539.
