Ruth B. King of Vineyard Haven died on Oct. 3 at Windemere Nursing Home after a brief period of illness. She was 91. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald J. King, the former harbor master and shellfish constable of Vineyard Haven.
Ruth was born in Mason, Ohio on Sept. 6, 1921. Her predeceased parents were Cassius and Beulah Browning from Pendleton County, Kent. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles.
Prior to marrying Donald and moving to the Vineyard in 1954, Ruth worked for the government during the Roswell incident. She has maintained “there is more fact than fiction” to the urban legend.
There will be a graveside service for Mrs. King on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 12:30 p.m. in the Oak Grove Cemetery, State Road, Vineyard Haven officiated by Rev. Michael Nagle.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Legion, P.O. Box 257, Vineyard Haven, MA 02568.
