The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is pleased to report that almost all the cats and kittens have found new homes for the holidays except for Rex, an older black and white tuxedo female. She is a little feisty, but that comes with age.
The shelter has another tuxedo cat coming named Pamela, who will have her veterinary check-up this week and be ready to go to her new home by next Friday.
Bella, the orange and white guinea pig, is still waiting for a new home. She doesn’t require a lot of care and is very gentle.
The Edgartown Hardware store will continue their shelter tool wish list through the holiday season. Anyone wishing to buy a much-needed tool for the maintainance of the shelter building is asked to stop by the hardware store to pick out a tool and the store will notify the shelter so that it can be picked up. The donation is tax deductible. The shelter thanks everyone for their generosity.
Many thanks to all the people who joined the shelter truck in the parade on Saturday — it was a lot of fun and the animals who walked with us were well-behaved and had a good time.
Shelter hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
Contributions are always gratefully accepted. The Susie Fund was established to pay the medical expenses of animals at the shelter who need medical care. Please make checks out to The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard; the mailing address is P.O. Box 1829, Edgartown MA 02539.
