The Aquinnah Public Library continues to provide special programs nearly every day the library is open. Stop by to find the latest in books, movies and CD’s. One of the latest CD’s to watch is Searching for Sugarman. It may take a while to figure out the beginning of the movie but halfway through it you are totally engrossed. A truly fascinating documentary film and one of the most popular at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society in Tisbury.

Congratulations to our Aquinnah students on the honor roll at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School. Alayna Hutchinson, daughter of Steve and the late Amanda Hutchinson, is a senior and on the high honor roll. Alayna will decide over the next week which college she will be attending. Chantal Booker, daughter of Spencer and Belinda Booker, is a junior and on the honor roll while preparing for the upcoming junior prom. Emerson Mahoney, son of Julianne Vanderhoop and Michael Mahoney, is a freshman on the honor roll.

Martha’s Vineyard Community Services sponsored the semi-annual Electronic Disposal Day on Saturday. It was a very successful day and in the afternoon I was paired with Avery Hazell and Olivia Jacobs of the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School girls tennis team while passing out the receipt tickets for disposable items. Thank you to Bruno’s for their vital part in making the day such a success. I would also like to personally thank the members of the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School boys hockey team — Tyson Araujo, Andrew Carroll, Brian Fraser, Mason Jeffers, Austin Morley, James Sashin, Alexander Vukota and Nick Vukota. Without their enthusiasm and strength we would have never made it through the afternoon. Also, thank you to coaches Sterling Bishop, Matt Mincone and Max Sherman for encouraging their teams to volunteer.
