Alicia Oliveira of Oak Bluffs, a graduate of the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School class of 2011, is a cadet at Providence College with the Army ROTC Patriot Battalion. Ms. Oliveira was chosen as a female participant on a team with eight other male cadets to participate in the Ranger Challenge held at Fort Dix, N.J.

The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to compete with each other on military tasks and in a written examination. Providence College’s Patriot Battalion, representing the eastern region, finished second in the obstacle course and tenth place out of all 42 teams.
