Green, that is the color I am thinking of as I look outside. I was always told that snow is nature’s fertilizer, and all I can think is that when this all melts and spring is here, we are going to have some really green grass.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Stefano Avansini and Shilah Trott who celebrated their day Feb. 7; Geovane Meikle and Camden Townes, Feb. 8; Liam Decker, Feb. 9; Franchesca Carlos, Amanda Moraes and Maksim Pachico, Feb. 11; Sophia Decker and John Habekost Jr. Feb. 12, and to Phillip Oliveira, who celebrates his day today, Feb. 13.

This time of the year is so hard to find news, especially with all the snow on the ground as no one wants to venture out except to the Stop & Shop. Then our mission is to go there and get out as soon as possible, unless you find someone you have not seen in a while, depending on your timing.

That being said, I am putting it out there that I know some families are headed away for February vacation, so please call me when you get back and share your adventures.

It is that time of year that the Wharf will be closing for a month for their yearly renovations and clean up and will be opening back up for St. Patrick’s Day. Also closing will be Edgartown Seafood for their yearly cleanup and well deserved R & R.

Want to know more about the night sky? Join Mark Lovewell and the members of Felix Neck while they stargaze and learn basic astronomy. Beginners will view the stars and planets and discover winter constellations. Warm up inside the Nature Center with hot cocoa and tea! This program will only run on a clear, cloudless night, so please call the day of the program. The stargazing is planned for Friday, Feb. 20, 6 to 8 p.m. at Felix Neck, and admission is free. It can conceal and enhance, boost and slim, but though it is always present, underwear’s place in history is often forgotten. The Martha’s Vineyard Museum is exploring this often-overlooked piece of our everyday wardrobe in a new exhibit entitled Victorian Secrets.

The exhibit explores some of the hidden fashions worn during this dynamic century along with their changing roles, from cleanliness and conformity to creating allure. Some are familiar, the ancestors of our modern underwear. Others are bizarre and uncomfortable looking. Through garments and accessories in the museum’s collections, many never before displayed, the museum offers a rare glimpse into this secret world.

Victorian Secrets opens on Friday, Feb. 13, with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. in the museum galleries. Admission is free to members and $7 for nonmembers. The exhibit will be open through May 25.

Stay safe and drive carefully with all of the ice and slush on the road, and please check on your elderly neighbors.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
