A customer sustained minor injuries on Monday afternoon when an SUV struck the Comcast building at the Martha’s Vineyard Airport business park.
The customer was standing inside at the service counter when a Subaru Outback struck the building from outside, damaging the counter glass and leaving a crack in the interior wall, Edgartown police said.
She suffered minor injuries, according to police, and was taken by ambulance to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Police are still investigating the accident, and have not yet identified the injured woman.
Police said the driver of the vehicle was Hugh Crawl of Bradenton, Fla.
“He was headed out of the parking lot, trying to make a U-turn,” said Sgt. Michael Gazaille. “His foot slipped off the brake and hit the gas, and he drove into the building.”
Police said they do not intend to cite Mr. Crawl for any violations. There was minor damage to his vehicle, police said, and he was able to drive away from the scene.
