Dick Carlson from Oak Bluffs took home top honors at the 18th annual Klays for Kids Charity Skeet Shoot last weekend at the Martha’s Vineyard Rod and Gun Club.
Mr. Carlson won first place by two targets, with a score of 48 out of 50. Bill Damora of Point Pleasant, N.J., came in second with 46 out of 50 targets. Brian Cioffi of Chilmark came in third with 45 out of 50 targets.
Each participant shot a minimum of two rounds of 25 targets, but could shoot as many additional rounds as he or she wished; they could then put their two best rounds of 25 targets together for the highest score. Participants paid 25 cents to $1 per missed target.
The annual fundraiser goes toward the club’s children’s programs, and $450 was raised at this year’s event.
Next up is the annual skeet championship on August 9, the trap title on August 16 and the rim fire club championship on August 22 and 23.
The public is always invited to attend and refreshments are available throughout the day. For more information visit www.mvrodandgunclub.com.
