I guess it will be a while before we see some more cold weather. They are talking record breaking heat. The sun has been shining and you only need a long sleeve shirt or T-shirt to wear. I am so glad I put all mine away and brought out my winter clothes.
Happy birthday to all who celebrated this week. Big balloons go out to Gianni Navarrete, who celebrated Nov. 2, and to Gabriel Brito, who celebrated Nov. 6.
I know it is early and Thanksgiving has not even been here yet, but the Christmas countdown has officially begun. If you think about it, it is only seven weeks till Christmas. That is only seven paychecks to plan on presents, or for your traveling costs and/or both. It does not seem possible but the race is on and the weekends are getting filled with some kind of project to be done before the holidays.
If you need another reality check, we at Donaromas will be starting to make the wet wreaths, and the greens and trees will be here in two and a half weeks. We have already started to wrap lights for the beginning of Christmas in Edgartown.
There is a new addition to the recreation area at the Edgartown School campus, near the children’s playground. Kara Shemeth worked a very long time to get a CPC-funded project going for the recreation area which includes 11 pieces of equipment ranging from strength to cardio and including two wheelchair accessible pieces. It is designed to withstand the elements and the surfacing allows for safe working out and wheelchair accessibility. Everything but the “horizontal ladder” (monkey bars) is done and can be used. There is a QR code on each unit that you can scan and it will show you a video on how to properly use the machine. There are also pictures on the info card for those who don’t want to scan anything. The different units were chosen for versatility. There are pieces that will appeal to lifters and CrossFit folks and pieces that will appeal to cardio fans and pieces for seniors and those recovering from injuries or surgery. If you have any questions about using these please consult your doctor before attempting.
The equipment is free to use and you can go anytime to work out. It is great to go with a friend and get stronger together. If you have a chance, check it out and thank Kara for all her hard work in getting this together.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
