The Journal of Island Life since 1846, the Vineyard Gazette is an unmatched resource for anyone interested in the history of Martha's Vineyard. Over the years, the Vineyard Gazette has assembled a unique collection of newspaper clippings, town and state reports, manuscripts, scrapbooks and photographs that document the history of the Vineyard and its people. We are happy to share this resource with the public.
Based in our historic home in downtown Edgartown, our library houses a selection of primary-source materials, books and an extensive clipping file covering thousands of topics and individuals related to the Island. Bound volumes of the Gazette are available from 1968 to the present. A complete microfilm record of the newspaper from its first publication is also available.

Research and Collections Use
Our librarian is able to assist in research projects, student papers and reports, and other historical research by phone, email or by appointment. The Gazette library will allow the photocopying of documents or articles in good condition. No items can be photocopied without permission. Photocopies can be made at a cost of $0.25 per page.
Scanned copies of past editions of the Gazette may be available for use in school papers, research projects, or academic presentations. We request that you acknowledge the source with the credit line:
