It is Monday as I write this column with complete relief of the humidity. You could breathe, you were happy to be outside, and you could do things without drinking a gallon of water. Let’s hope we get the rain we need at night, lots of sunshine during the day, and keep the humidity far far away.
Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Cassidy Kelleher and Nolan Murphy who celebrated August 1; Aaliyah Grigsby, August 2; Chimari Dockery, August 3; and to Paige Herrick and Zachary Ward, who celebrate their day August 5.
The MV Partnership for Health is recruiting people to become trained to conduct seminars on powerful tools for caregivers. For more information email ksamways@ihimv.org or call 508-627-5797, ext. 114.
I decided over the weekend that this column was going to be dedicated to smiling. A smile does not cost anything, unless you had a very large dentist bill, and in that case you really should be smiling. A smile makes other people smile, and a smile will make you feel good about yourself.
This smile subject started when I saw Rebecca Donnelly at the post office and she said she loved my column as it was always upbeat, which is what I like to do. But she has a great smile and it made me smile.
Our friend Pat Rogers called the other day. She was smiling because the salvia she bought that was blue and beautiful did in fact attract the hummingbirds she loved to see, and they are on the flowers every morning. She called because it made her smile.
My coworker Jonathan Beaulieu was comparing baby pictures with Renee Clermont; Jonathan of his daughter Faye, and Renee her son Nicholas. There were some big smiles going on.
I took my friend Ellen Blodgett’s dog Millie to visit my friend Jan Norton, who misses having dogs. I put Millie on her lap and Jan had a big smile.
It is August, there are new visitors here, and some old friends that will be arriving for the month. Illumination is coming, the Fair will be here, and there will be fireworks in Oak Bluffs in a few weeks. There are always plenty of smiles at these functions.
So smile. You never know who you will make feel better or happy.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
